| When Tsigerida's father passes away in the idyllic countryside of Ethiopia's Bale Region, her aunt blames Tsigerida's mother for his death. Even as she mourns the loss of her husband, Tsigerida's mother is faced with a dilemma: keep her daughter with her or send her to a better life. Tsigerida is sent to Addis Ababa with her grandmother, where she encounters more problems. Ultimately, Gulicha is a story of the impact of stigma, loss and separation.
